Ugh!! The holiday season just plain sucks for someone who is grieving. Halloween, Thanksgiving and now...CHRISTMAS! How does anyone make it through without losing their mind? Here is what the experts say:
1. Don't worry about traditions...do whatever you can to just get through even if that means not setting up the tree, making your holiday rounds or doing anything that will bring you down even more than where you already are.
2. Do something new and different. Maybe travel or spend Christmas some place other than where all of the memories are.

Delusional-- -- I think NOT!
Name: Cheryl M
Enoree, SC
I just read your story The Streetlight and let me tell You...I had someone very dear to me pass on. I have had what I thought to be signs but this takes the cake. I have been wanting a sign that I knew I couldn't brush off as coincidence. As I was reading your story about the lights, my 6 year old daughter came into the room and was frightened because the light in the living room went out!Did you hear that? THE LIGHT WENT OUT! As I'm writing I'm still waiting for it come back on. People can call me nuts if they want but nothing could have wiped the smile off my face when that happened.I know that it was my dear friend that I have been missing so painfully.

Am I grieving the right way?
There is no right or wrong way to grieve the loss of a loved one. The fact that you are eating, brushing your teeth and not in a dark room playing with lent balls tells me that you are doing it "JUST RIGHT." Hang in there. I know this is tough but remember to just keep taking those baby steps.
